Job Posting: Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

Summary

The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications will assist the Director of Athletic Communications with the promotion and publicity of the college’s Athletic Department. This person is expected to affirm, model, and cultivate the Christ-centered mission of Montreat College and the Athletic Department. The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications is also required to consistently and professionally serve the department and institution by means of accurate and timely communication with all Athletic Department stakeholders through a variety of outlets, while complying with all rules and regulations set forth by the NAIA, AAC, and Montreat College.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee assigned areas of the Athletic Communications department through quality coverage of sporting events.
  • Ensure excellent, timely, and accurate information on electronic and printed material that pertains to the Athletic Department.
  • Contribute to maintaining the Athletic Department website and social media platforms, along with marketing of the Montreat College Athletic Department.
  • Write and edit game summaries for assigned athletic events.
  • Help to guarantee accurate schedules, rosters, and athletic updates.
  • Ensure accurate stats at assigned home contests and oversee quick delivery of stats to opposing teams.
  • Assist with weekly reporting of stats and award nominations to any conference or national organizations.
  • Aid in taking, scheduling, posting, and disseminating necessary individual and team photos for promotional and website use.
  • Distribute all necessary communications from conference and national offices that pertain to the Athletic Department.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of compliance with the AAC and NAIA rules and regulations.
  • Attend and participate in monthly departmental meetings.
  • Display a hard work ethic and professional attitude at all times.
  • Assist with game management when necessary.
  • Assume other duties assigned by the Director of Athletic Communications, as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The Assistant Director of Athletic Communication is a full-time, benefitted 10-month position. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Successful candidate will affirm and support the Mission, Vision, and Statement of Faith of Montreat College.

Education

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution is required; extra consideration will be given to candidates with prior experience working in an athletic communications or sports information department.
