Summary

The Graduate Assistant for the Montreat College Technology Department provides support and assistance to students, faculty, and staff within the technology department. This position is responsible for monitoring incoming helpdesk requests, managing phone inquiries, and providing in-person support to ensure a seamless technology experience for the college community. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a customer-oriented mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Duties

Helpdesk Management

  1. Monitor and manage incoming helpdesk requests through the ticketing system.
  2. Distribute requests to the appropriate personnel based on urgency and area of expertise.
  3. Ensure timely follow-up on outstanding requests to maintain high levels of service.

Phone Support

  1. Answer helpdesk phone inquiries promptly and professionally.
  2. Provide immediate assistance to callers or forward them to the appropriate staff member for resolution.
  3. Document and track phone inquiries and resolutions for future reference.

In-Person Assistance

  1. Assist students, faculty, and staff who visit the technology department with their inquiries and issues.
  2. Provide guidance and troubleshooting for common technology-related problems.
  3. Maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for all visitors.

Additional Duties

  1. Collaborate with the technology team on special projects and initiatives as assigned.
  2. Participate in training sessions to stay updated on new technologies and helpdesk procedures.
  3. Assist in the creation of user guides and documentation to enhance the helpdesk experience.

Essential Job Functions 

  1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  2. Basic knowledge of computer systems, software applications, and troubleshooting techniques.
  3. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  4. Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution is required. Must support and affirm the College’s faith statement and Community Life Covenant

Supervisor

The Graduate Assistant Coach reports to the Director of Technology.
