VA Benefits

Montreat College is happy to participate in Veterans’ Affairs educational benefit programs and other military tuition assistance and training programs.

Return of Military Tuition Assistance (TA) Policy

Military Tuition Assistance (TA) is awarded with the expectation that the student will complete the full term for which assistance is granted. Students may lose eligibility for the full amount of TA received if they withdraw for any reason other than military service obligations. The return of unearned TA funds will likely create a balance on your Montreat College student account that will be your responsibility to repay.

In accordance with Department of Defense policy, Montreat College will return unearned TA funds on a prorated basis up to the 60% point of the enrollment period. TA funds are earned proportionally, and any unearned portion will be refunded based on the student’s withdrawal date. These funds will be returned to the respective military service branch as outlined in the tables below.

If a student withdraws due to a military service obligation, Montreat College will return 100% of the TA funds, ensuring no financial liability for the service member. It will also refund all tuition and fees for the course(s) impacted by the military service obligation.

About VA Benefits

Veterans’ education benefits are accessible by eligible students in both the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) and the School of Adult and Graduate Studies (AGS).

  • Students in SAS may also qualify for the Yellow Ribbon Program within the Post 9/11 GI Bill.
  • AGS students may be eligible for a military discount through Montreat College. The discount is extended to active-duty military, honorably discharged veterans, and qualifying spouses of service members from any branch of the military who are pursuing a degree through AGS. Apply by submitting the Application for Military Discount link below.
