George Darden, Class of 1965, became an assistant conductor, pianist and coach with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City in 1985. He returned to give concerts at the college in 1991, 1994, 2000, and 2003. He received an honorary doctorate from Montreat-Anderson College in 1994. He worked with opera companies and singers throughout the world during his career.

The Montreat Singers was a college choral group under the direction of Mr. Allan Guy. In addition to giving concerts on campus, this group sang in churches of the surrounding area and presented programs on radio and television. The highlight of the year was their annual tour. This photograph shows the 1963 group that toured North and South Carolina and Virginia.

New Hall, built in 1964, would be renamed Davis Hall in the 1970’s. The men’s residence hall houses 102 students. This photograph shows the interior of the lobby in the mid-1960’s. Montreat-Anderson College became co-ed in 1959.
